Personal info: I have been paddling the coasts of the great lakes for 10 years. Mostly Lake Michigan around the Traverse Bay and the Sand Dunes of Sleeping Bear. My buddy and I have done some crossings to the Manitou islands, paddled the Pictured Rocks area, the Whale back area of the Lake Huron North channel, and the east coast of Lake Superior. We also did 3 days on Drummond Island and the Le chounoix islands. All highly recommended and are mostly experienced level paddles. Yep I was stretching my skill levels but I guess thats how you progress.
I also like to work on my Kayak surfing skills and when the weather is right, Empire has some great waves to work with. And a sandy bottom.
I have recently been interested in S.U.P. That is stand up paddling on a long surf board. I have seen some folks around here recently doing it and it looks like some great exercise. They are using them for flat water stand up paddleing and surfing. Has anyone had any experience with this?
